Woodland Indians Clothing
Question: What materials did the Indians use to make their clothing?

Every piece of clothing the Woodland Indians wore was HANDMADE!
They used the resources around them to keep warm and protected. Nature provided the following tools to make clothes:

- animal skins
- bird feathers
- stones
- porcupine quills
- deer/animal bones
Women's clothing
Women of the tribe would normally wear skirts made of deer hide that they would skin, cut and prepare. These skirts would reach their ankles and would be decorated with beads or porcupine quills. The porcupine quills would be dyed red, blue and yellow to bring color to the skirts. On top women would usually wear a decorated vest or long shirt made of deerskin.
Men's clothing
The Woodland men, similar to the woman, wore clothing made from deerskin. Their skirts were shorter and would normaly end under the knee. On top they would wear a vest or long shirt decorated with beading or colors to represent their tribes.
What did they wear on their feet?
MOCCASINS!!! Men, woman and children, all wore moccasins everyday. Moccasins were made of one piece of deerskin that was sewn together with a deer-bone needle and deer muscle for thread. Just like the traditional shirts and skirts they were decorated with beads, colors and feathers.
